Schools closed in Amritsar on Monday due to heavy rainfall-DC

Deputy Commissioner Amritsar has closed all the Government School, Private Aided Schools, Affiliated Schools and Anganwari schools in District Amritsar on Monday, September 24, due to the prevalent inclement weather. Today the office of the Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, has issued a notification in this regard.

Punjab along with other Northern states  are experiencing heavy rainfall ,thundershower from  Saturday. Heavy rainfall is predicted on Monday too, as per officials of the meteorological department.

According to a MeT official, “Punjab state likely to experience widespread rainfall on Monday 24th September 2018. Many districts in Doaba, Majha, Malwa very likely to get heavy (more than 7-12 cm) to very heavy rainfall (more than 12 cm) during the above period. There is a very high probability of extremely heavy rainfall in northeastern and southeastern parts of Punjab”

To prevent any miss happening, Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, who is also the District Magistrate, ordered the closure of the schools, as a precautionary measure.

He also ordered the District Publication Relation officer Amritsar to  announce this orders through public address system and ensure its implementation.
