Selection trials begins-Punjab to make a mark at Khelo India Games: Sodhi

“The ‘Khelo India Youth Games-2020‘ are scheduled for Guwahati (Assam) from 10th January-22nd January, 2020. The selection trials for the teams from Punjab would commence on 13th October at the Sports Complex, Sector-78, Mohali.”
Disclosing this here today in a press communique, the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi said that on 13th October, 2019 the trials for Basketball U-17 team of Boys and the U-21 Basketball team for both boys and girls would be held at the Sector -78, Sports Complex. The minister further said that on the 14th October, trials in respect of Football U-17 team for boys would be held at the Same venue. Similarly, the trials for Football U-21 boys and girls teams on 15th October, and Volleyball U-21 boys and girls teams on 17th October would be held at the above mentioned venue.
The minister further divulged that the trials for selection of Boys and girls U-17 and boys U-21 team would take place on 18th and 19th October respectively at the International Hockey Stadium, Sector – 63, Mohali.
Rana Sodhi further added that the eligibletr players interested in participating in the trials must report to the District Sports Officer at the respective venues at 8 AM sharp for registration.
Elaborating more, the minister said that the trials for the selection of the Kho-Kho U-17 girls team would take place at village Bhanauri Kalan, District Sangrur on 16th October.
Rana Sodhi expressed strong hope that the teams from Punjab would surely make a mark at the Khelo India Youth Games and would pave the way for Punjab emerging as Numero Uno in the country in sporting arena.
