Selection trials for UT Gatka team on July 18

Chandigarh Gatka Association (CGA) will hold the trials on Sunday 18th July for selection of state team for 9th National Gatka Championship.
This national event is going to be held at Gur Harsahai, Ferozpur district from 7th-9th August under the ages of National Gatka Association of India (Regd.).
Disclosing this here today Convenor of CGA informed that the selection trials will be conducted for Single Soti and Sotti-Farri fight for the age groups like U-14, U-17, U-19, U-22 and U-25 at Gurdwara Babe Ke, Near Furniture Market, Chandigarh. He added that all the players of Chandigarh state should report at 8:30 am in proper sports kit and must bring their Aadhar cards.
He further informed that President of CGA, Hardeep Singh Butrela former deputy mayor Chandigarh and Sukhwinder Singh Yogi will inaugurate the trials.
National Gatka Association of India (NGAI)
With an aim to revive, preserve and promote traditional martial art Gatka as a sport, the National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) was constituted in the year 2001 and got registered 2004. It is affiliated with World Gatka Federation (WGF), Asian Gatka Federation (AGF) and International Sikh Martial Art Council (ISMAC) to achieve its aims and objectives. These apex Gatka organizations endeavour to and envisions in promoting, popularizing and standardizing Gatka as a recognised game at national and international level.
The NGAI is the first and oldest registered Gatka organisation and proactive for about two decades in taking major initiatives for the promotion of this great art. The appropriate recognition, due status and development of Gatka as a game at national and international level, are few of the major objectives of NGAI.
It had already been decided by the NGAI and ISMAC to setup a residential Gatka Training and Research Academy in Punjab to provide best training, scientific research and higher academic facilities to the Gatkabaaz. Besides, an international Gatka directory is also in the offing having detailed information of all Gatka Akharas and Gatka training centers running across the globe which will serve as a first ever reference book.
