Serving and retired judicial officers, advocates, staff members donate relief material for flood affected residents of Patiala

The District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala,  Rupinderjit Chahal organized relief efforts for those affected by recent floods. Two vans loaded with grocery items, clothes, sanitary pads, mattresses, Bed Sheets, fans, school bags and note books for the effected people in Patiala were flagged off by  Rupinderjit Chahal, District and Sessions Judge, Patiala and Manjinder Singh, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar.

On this occasion, they told that under the able guidance of Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh-cum- Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, we have sent relief for flood victims with the co-operation of serving and retired judicial officer, advocates and staff members.

They added that earlier 29 medical camps and flood relief camps were organized by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala in different colonies in Patiala and adjoining villages of the city. In these camps, medical checkup of people was done who were affected by recent floods. Necessary medicines, sanitary pads among women, dry ration and drinking water bottles were also distributed among the needy persons. They further told that Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar and District Legal Services Authority, Patiala are always ready to help the flood victims in this situation and it is the moral duty of society to help those in need.

Apart from this, school bags and note books were distributed among the students of Government High School, Theri. On this occasion, fans, clothes and mattresses alongwith bed sheets were also distributed among residents of village Theri who were affected by recent floods.

A medical camp was also organized at Government High School, Theri by DLSA Patiala in collaboration with health department. In this medical camp, medical check up of 150 persons was done by a team of Doctors comprising of Dr. Surinder Kumar, Dr. Mandeep Singh, Dr. Pargat Singh, Dr. Priti Saini, Dr. Kanwarkriti, Dr. Shaina Mehta, Dr. Orelaya Goel, Dr. Parwinder Singh and Dr. Manpreet Kaur.

Necessary medicines were also distributed among patients. A legal awareness programme was also held for residents of the area.

During this programme, they were made aware about various Schemes of NALSA, free legal services and about upcoming National Lok Adalat to be held on 09.9.2023 by Manjinder Singh, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar. On this occasion,  Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala was also present.
