The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the SSC CGL 2025 (Combined Graduate Level) examination just five days before the scheduled commencement date.

As per the official notice released by SSC, the SSC CGL 2025 exam, which was scheduled to be conducted from August 13-30, 2025, has been rescheduled to the first week of September 2025.

SSC has postponed the SSC CGL 2025 exam amid ongoing technical difficulties experienced during recent SSC examinations, including server crashes and system malfunctions that have plagued the Computer-Based Test (CBT) infrastructure.

The spokesperson said “The SSC CGL 2025 Tier 1 examination, which was scheduled to be conducted between August 13 and August 2025, has been officially postponed to the first week of September 2025”. The postponement notification was released on August 8, 2025, confirming the delay.

SSC claimed that the Supreme Court had directed SSC to implement certain reforms in the manner in which such CBEs (Computer Based Examinations) are conducted. In compliance with these orders, SSC has shifted to a revised model of conducting CBEs starting with the Selection Posts/Phase XIII Exams, 2025 which were held at 194 venues across the country from July 24 to August 1, 2025. Out of 11.50 lakh applicants, over 5.50 lakh candidates had taken these exams at Matric, Higher Secondary and Graduate levels. Aadhaar authentication for candidates and Exam Functionaries was also introduced from this exam onwards in order to tackle impersonation and related malpractices.

However during the exam, certain disruptions were reported by candidates, “owing to technical factors and operational reasons,” SSC stated. SSC added that many such candidates were identified and in order to provide a fair opportunity, they were rescheduled and accommodated in subsequent shifts till August 1, 2025. In addition, on August 2, exams were conducted in three shifts for more such candidates identified and about 8000 candidates appeared for these tests on the same day.

As per the official notification, the exam will now start from the first week of September 2025 and a revised schedule for CGLE and all other subsequent exams will soon be posted on the website of the Commission.
