Govt. Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala organised a Seven Day NSS camp from Jan 11 to Jan 17,2025 in the college campus under the guidance of the college Principal Prof. (Dr.)Kusum Lata.The Chief guest for the concluding day was Dr.Vaneeta Rani, Principal, Govt. Ripudaman College, Nabha. The camp started with the grouping of 150 NSS volunteers and concluded with the valedictory functionunder the able supervision of NSS program officers Shashi Bala, Asst. Prof. Satinder Kaur and Dr.Harsimran Kaur. The Program started with the lamp lighting ceremony. The chief guest wholeheartedly praised the sincere efforts, team work, dedication and leadership skills put in by the worthy Principal.

The college Principal, addressing the volunteers, appreciated their efforts and emphasized the need of community service. She further added that real joy lies in serving others and making the world around us a better place to live in.

A variety of activities were conducted to educate the volunteers about various social, physical, and psychological phenomena.Day 1 began with a motivational lecture by Dr.Harsimran Kaur followed by an NSS quiz and a pledge-taking ceremony. Day 2 started with a large-scale cleanliness drive on the college campus, followed by a seminar on National Youth Day by Asst. Prof. Satinder Kaur. Day 3 featured the celebration of Lohri along with a lecture by Shashi Bala. Day 4 was reserved for a visit to the adopted village Ucha Gaon by NSS volunteers. The volunteers visited the Elementary school in the village, held a cleanliness drive and an awareness rally against stubble burning. The village Sarpanch and the school headmaster expressed their gratitude and commended the volunteers’ efforts.

A series of educational lectures by the faculty members of the college were also held on this day. On Day 5, a Blood donation camp was organised which was inaugurated by Retd. Principal Prof. Ram Kumar. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff, contributing to the noble cause.Day 6 included a visit to Dr.Khushdeva Singh Kusht Ashram in Tafzalpura, followed by a large-scale cleanliness drive at Baba Jiwan Singh Colony. The day also featured a rally promoting environmental protection and the use of eco-friendly products.

Seven day NSS Camp at Govt Bikram College ends with a realization of social responsibilities .During the valedictory function, the Chief Guest honoured the six best volunteers, the best NSS group, and other outstanding winners.Vote of thanks was presented by Shashi Bala. The program ended with the National Anthem.
