A seven-day NSS special camp was organised at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, from December 23 to 29, 2024, under the inspiring theme ‘Youth for My Bharat and Digital Literacy.’ The camp was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Pritpal Singh, and Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing. The camp emphasized on the role of youth in driving social transformation through community service, digital literacy, and ethical leadership.

Prof. Pritpal Singh, in his address, highlighted the University’s unwavering commitment to instilling values of service, discipline, and responsibility in students. He applauded the volunteers for embracing the spirit of sewa and contributing to social causes, urging them to continue making a meaningful impact through dedicated efforts. Prof. Singh emphasized the transformative power of youth in building a self-reliant and progressive nation, aligning their actions with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat.’

Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing commended the NSS units for their proactive approach in organizing activities addressing contemporary societal challenges such as drug abuse and cyber security. He stressed the importance of combining traditional values with modern technological awareness to empower youth for leadership roles. Prof. Billing further encouraged volunteers to view the camp as an opportunity to enhance personal growth, develop leadership qualities, and deepen their understanding of societal needs.

The programme is spearheaded by Dr. Harneet Billing, Programme Coordinator (NSS), ably supported by Programme Officers Dr. Suman Preet Kaur and Dr. Monika Airi, along with faculty members Navjot Kaur, Pawanjot Kaur, Gurwinder Kaur, Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur, Gurwinder Sodhi, and Ramandeep Singh.

The camp features a diverse array of activities, including sewa at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib and Gurdwara Jyoti Swaroop Sahib in memory of Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri Ji. Volunteers actively participate in cleanliness drives, sangat management, morning prayers, and evening reflections. Additionally, community outreach programs address critical issues such as drug awareness and cyber security. Signature campaigns and pledges to work towards a drug-free Punjab reflect the volunteers’ commitment to societal betterment.

Seven-Day NSS Special Camp at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University. With 200 NSS volunteers representing four NSS units, the camp serves as a vibrant platform for promoting institutional social responsibility, digital literacy, and youth engagement in nation-building.
