Capt Amarinder Singh, chief Minister of Punjab, who is a Sidhu by caste, yesterday holds a lunchon meeting with the selected representatives of Amritsar district.Chief Minister invited some legislators from Amritsar parliamentary constituency to get the ground level feedback.
Inderbir Singh Bolaria who represented Amritsar South and Raj Kumar Verka who represents Amritsar West also attended the meeting.
Om Parkash Soni who represents Amritsar Central and Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria who represents Raja Sansi were already cabinet colleagues of Capt Amarinder Singh.
The urgency to hold lunch for selected representative from Amritsar parliamentary constituency arises, after the speculation about Navjot Singh Sidhu, former ministerial colleague of chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and a MLA from Amritsar East, that later is joining Aam Admi Party (AAP).
The invitation for lunchon meeting to Amritsar Parliamentary constituency leaders were sent just three-four days ago, after reports on Navjot Singh Sidhu joining AAP, surfaced.
Both Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu remained in loggerheads, since the congress party came into power in Punjab.
Recently Captain Amarinder Singh had said that “ Navjot was very much a part of the Congress and had been in touch with the party high command in that capacity. He also said that if Sidhu or any other Congress member who had any concerns on any issue could come and talk to him.”
As per party leaders “Navjot Singh Sidhu had concern over Bargari issue and drugs issue, as both were not addressed properly and timely”.
On this Capt Amarinder Singh said “investigations in the Bargari and other sacrilege cases were in progress but we cannot just put people behind bars without following the due process of law,” he said, referring to Sidhu’s purported critical remarks on the issue. Many challans have been presented in the Bargari case, but the state government cannot interfere in the work of the courts, he added.
Now everyone is watching the moves of Capt Amarinder Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu and congress party high command. As AAP is wooing Navjot Singh Sidhu to join their party. Capt Amarinder Singh is saying “Navjot Singh Sidhu is very much in congress “. Congress high command is in dilemma-what to do. Party insiders say party high command don’t want to annoy any leader, at this juncture”
