To improve road infrastructure and facilitate commuter movement, Bathinda MLA Jagroop Singh Gill inaugurated a Rs 42 lakh tile-laying and footpath construction project along the boundary wall of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) on the Dabwali-Badal Road.

The project initiated by the Bathinda Municipal Corporation (BMC), addresses concerns raised by MRSPTU officials regarding the challenges faced by students, staff, and daily commuters. It aims to enhance accessibility and ensure the safety of all road users.

The scope of the project includes the installation of interlocking tiles and the construction of a footpath along the stretch from the Dabwali-Badal Road T-point to the flyover on Badal Road. Additionally, two new bus shelters near Vardhman Gate and one at the T-point will be built.

The project is being managed by Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer (XEN) of the BMC, who has played a pivotal role in its planning and execution.

Speaking at the launch, MLA Jagroop Singh Gill highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, “This development was long overdue. The heavy traffic of students and commuters on this busy road often caused inconvenience. By providing proper pavements and bus shelters, we aim to ensure the safety and comfort of all.”

The project is expected to ease traffic congestion and significantly improve pedestrian movement, especially for the large number of students and staff commuting to MRSPTU. Rajinder Kumar added, “The pavement will not only facilitate easier movement for students but also provide a smoother passage for all commuters traveling between the T-point and the university.”

I thank MLA Jagroop Singh Gill and the Bathinda Municipal Corporation for responding to the university’s request and taking this initiative for the benefit of students, staff, and commuters.”
