Special lecture at Khalsa College on Adolescent Health

Student Welfare Girls and Nanhi Chhaan Cell of Khalsa College, Patiala organised a special lecture on ‘Adolescent Health- Need of Millennium’. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ruby Bhatia of O.B.S. and Gynecology of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala and Associate Professor of Govt. Medical College, Patiala.

While addressing the students she said that there are 232 million adolescent children of total population ranging between 10-19 years in which 113 million are adolescent girls. Various menstrual complications and problem like Anemia is found in 56% of girls. Girls should be made aware of such health problems in the very young age.

Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal of the college said that healthy citizens are an important asset of a nation. We must develop a positive attitude and should take an oath to make our surrounding clean.

Prof. Sukhmeen Kaur, Dean, Student Welfare Girls welcomed Dr. Ruby Bhatia and said that the pollution which is increasing day by day is posing a serious threat to the environment and is adversely affecting the reproductive system of living beings.

Dr. Balbir Kaur, Convenor, Nanhi Chhaan Cell expressed her views on major issues among the youth like neglect of  healthy food and developing wrong eating habits. Rather than indulging in physical exercise young people are more inclined towards social networking. She inspired the students to follow balanced diet along with regular exercise
