A five-day workshop titled “Hands-on Training on Spectrophotometers 2026” was successfully conducted at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib bringing together students, researchers, and faculty members from diverse science disciplines. Organized by the Centre for Scientific Research and Innovation (CSRI), the workshop was held from April 20 to April 24, 2026, at the university’s Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF).
The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of spectrophotometric techniques and their wide-ranging applications in chemical and biological analysis. Over the course of five days, participants received intensive hands-on training on sophisticated analytical instruments, including FTIR, UV-Visible spectrophotometers, Zeta Particle Sizer, Photoluminescence (PL) Spectrophotometers, and a Thermogravimetric Analyzer.
Dr. Rahul Badru, Incharge CIF, highlighted that more than 60 students from disciplines such as Chemistry, Food Processing Technology, Biotechnology, and Zoology benefitted from the workshop. The programme effectively blended expert lectures with practical training sessions.
During the forenoon sessions, experts demonstrated key principles of spectrophotometry, including calibration techniques, sample preparation, and data interpretation. The post-lunch sessions were dedicated to hands-on training, allowing participants to gain practical exposure to modern analytical instruments.
The workshop featured insightful sessions by eminent academicians, including Prof. Tejbir Singh, Chairman CSRI; Dr. Rupinder Pal Singh from the Department of Food Processing Technology; Dr. Monika Airi from the Department of Zoology; Dr. Khushboo Verma from the Department of Chemistry; along with Dr. Rahul Badru.

A feedback session held on the final day reflected high levels of participant satisfaction. Attendees described the workshop as highly enriching, particularly appreciating the hands-on training and interactive format that enabled them to clarify doubts and deepen their research understanding.
Prof. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, commended the efforts of CSRI and encouraged the continuation of such initiatives. Prof. Tejbir Singh emphasized the importance of organizing high-quality workshops within the academic framework to equip students with practical, real-world skills.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, certificate distribution, and a formal vote of thanks. The University reaffirmed its commitment to promoting scientific learning and experiential training through such academic initiatives.
