Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib won Gold Medal in 6th All India Inter University Gatka Championship

The Women’s and Men’s team of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib played in 6th All India Inter University Gatka Championship 2022-23 held at the University of Engineering and Management Jaipur (Rajasthan). In the Championship, the University teams won 4 gold, 9 silver, 9 bronze medals and secured the overall second position in Men’s category and the overall third position in the Women’s category.

On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Dr. Pritpal Singh informed that the one-year diploma course in Sikh martial art Gatka is being run by the university since 2019 and that the fee for this course is paid by Sarabat Da Bhala Charitable Trust. It is worth mentioning that the University team has won medals in various international competitions. It is also worth mentioning that the University team has maintained the championship for the last three consecutive years in the Khalsai Games organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar Sahib.

On this occasion Prof. Chancellor of the University Dr. Ajaib Singh Brar congratulated the Head of the Physical Education Department Dr. Bhupinder Singh Ghuman, Gatka Coach of the University Talwinder Singh, Assistant Professor Gurwinder Singh, Team Manager Bahadur Singh and the entire team.
