Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Mourns the death of Amarjeet Singh Sidhu

Another blow to Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib hits with the fatal loss of former IAS officer and esteemed member of the University trust  Amarjeet Singh Sidhu.

Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar, the Pro-Chancellor of the University said that Sidhu’s demise marks the end of an era characterized by his unwavering dedication and significant contributions to public service and education. He added that Sidhu’s illustrious career spanned decades, during which he served with distinction in various capacities, leaving an indelible mark on the communities he touched. As a member of the trust at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, he played a pivotal role in shaping the institution’s vision and fostering its growth, since its inception.

The. Vice chancellor of the University Prof. Prit Pal Singh while taking to the media said that Sidhu’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of integrity, compassion, and commitment to excellence will continue to inspire generations to come. He expressed his deepest condolences to Sidhu family, his friends, and colleagues during this time of sorrow.

Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs of the University, while remembering Sidhu shared that Sidhu, known for his impactful tenure as Patiala Deputy Commissioner until 1997, has left behind a legacy of significant contributions to Patiala’s beautification and preservation of heritage sites. His efforts included restoring Baradari Gardens and fostering the growth of native Punjab trees in the area. Post-retirement, he continued serving the public in various capacities, including as a member of the Punjab Public Service Commission, MILKFED Chairman, and Director of National Fertilisers Limited. Prof. Billing added that the University and its faculty have immensely benefited from his experience and his death is an unbearable loss for the University. University staff paid tributes to Amarjit Singh Sidhu and prayed for the repose of his soul.
