State Level Orientation Programme for National Children Science Congress (NCSC) 2023 organized at Punjabi University

A State Level Orientation Programme for National Children Science Congress (NCSC) 2023 has been organized by Department of Biotechnology and Food technology, Punjabi University, Patiala in association with Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), Chandigarh for District Coordinators and Guide Teachers of Punjab.
The objective of the programme was to train the participants for the upcoming Children Science Congress on the current year theme ‘Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-Being’ and its evaluation process. During his inaugural address, Prof. Arvind, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala emphasized on the current need of hand-holding of talented students who excelled in science and innovation programmes like science congress for their further career.
The convener of the program Dr. Balwinder Singh Sooch, Head, Department of Biotechnology & Food Technology in his welcome note told that more than 100 participants from 23 districts of Punjab are participating in this program and described different steps of NCSC for making a project under NCSC. Dr. KS Bath, Joint Director, PSCST, Chandigarh briefed about the concept of NCSC and emphasized on qualitative improvement in science projects.
Dr. Lalit Sharma, Chairman, National Academic Committee, NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India in his key note address described the objectives of the program and asked all stakeholders to work for its maximum outreach. Dr. Gurpreet Singh from Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Mandakini Thakur from PSCST and Dr. Jaspreet Kaur from Panjab University, Chandigarh shared their views on the current year theme and NCSC process.
State Level Orientation Programme for National Children Science Congress (NCSC) 2023 organized at Punjabi University. Dr. Ranjeeta Bhari and Dr. Harpreet Kaur coordinated the technical sessions and panel discussion during the programme. The prizes were also distributed to national level Children Science Congress winners of last year. The best performing districts (Patiala & Bathinda) and teachers in NCSC were also honoured during the programme.
