“Stitch in time saves nine-“Punjab govt to refurbish the collapsing PSPCL

Kanwar Inder Singh/ royalpatiala.in

“Stitch in time, saves nine-“It seems that the Punjab government has decided to refurbish the collapsing Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) and Punjab state transmission corporation limited (PSTCL).

All employees of the PSPCL and PSTCL are agitating from the last many months. This is in the history of the PSPCL and even erstwhile PSEB that the head office of the power department remained closed for number of days. It’s also for the first time that all associations/ unions came on common platform and expressed their resentment against the management.

It might be a refurbishing step that the state government has ordered the appointment of a seasoned technocrat Er Baldev Singh Sra as PSPCL’s CMD. Sra remained powercom’s CMD, earlier also.

Today, the state government in a major step, has taken back the Power department from a powerful and senior bureaucrat-KAP Sinha and handed it over to another senior IAS officer Dilip Kumar.

It’s not a smooth ride for both Dilip Kumar IAS and Er Baldev Singh Sra, as all the cadres of PSPCL and PSTCL are in agitation mode. Newly appointed powercom CMD Er Baldev Singh Sra is going to take charge on Thursday, December 23, 2021. All Associations/ Unions of PSPCL/ PSTCL had declared that in case new pay scales, as per FC-12/2021 and other instructions issued in this regard, are not implemented i.e salary / pension is disbursed as per new scales w.e.f 1/7/21, on or before 23/12/21 in PSPCL and PSTCL, all engineers/ officers/ employees will proceed on 5 days mass casual leave on midnight of 23/12/2021. Further, if the pay scales are not implemented in true spirit then the mass casual leave can be extended further. Daily protest rallies, in all offices of PSPCL/ PSTCL across Punjab, will be organised from 24/12/21 onwards. Now, time will tell that how a team of Kumar and Sra is going to handle the protesting employees.
