Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda organized a three week long Student Induction Programme (SIP) for the newly admitted students of all AICTE and Non-AICTE courses of batch 2022, which concluded with much fanfare at the Campus on Tuesday.

The students from various states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and North East have joined to undertake various courses in the university.

The induction programme included various interactive sessions with the experts besides field visits and exposure to various facets and facilities available locally.

The main purpose of this Induction programme was to acclimatize new entrants with the university environment and make them comfortable with the system.  SIP was started with the grand Inauguration function, in which Vice Chancellor of University, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu addressed the students.

While welcoming, Prof. Sidhu informed the students about the remarkable developments made by the University in its short span of existence.  He specially mentioned the IDEA lab which is the most sought after project of the university and all foreign collaboration related to academic and research activities and proposals. He also emphasized upon the role of the value system in the life of the students.

The 21-day mandatory Induction Program as per University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) requirements organized under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Rajeev Varshney.

Registrar Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Dean Consultancy and Industry Linkage Dr. Manjit Bansal and Dr. Rajeev Kumar Varshney, Chief Coordinator of SIP presented their inspirational talks for the motivation of the students.

During the first week, students were given detailed information about various curricular and extra-curricular activities running in the campus. In the series of various sessions, most Prominently, Dean academic Affairs, Dr. Kawajit Singh Sandhu, Dean Research & Development Dr. Ashish Baldi, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Paramjeet Singh, Director Training & Placement Dr. Harjot Singh Sidhu, Director Skill Development Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Professor Incharge Corporate Resource Centre Dr. Rajesh Gupta gave valuable inputs and most crucial information to the students so that students feel confident while participating in various activities of the university System. Under Extra Curricular Activities, Director Youth welfare and Sports Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, NCC In-charge Prof. Vivek and NSS Coordinator Dr. Meenu made students aware about the importance of these activities in the personality development of a human being.

Successive weeks, mentoring Sessions were arranged in which Assistant professor Human Values and Professional Ethics Dr. Aruna Gupta arranged multiple sessions. Different value related proposals were given to the students to develop the right understanding among the students so that they can manage their life with confidence and positivity. Art of Living session was organised where Dr. Amitesh along with his team counseled the students. OZONE Day was also part of the programme, where renowned environmental Scientists from  Central University of Punjab created awareness about the environmental preservation and protection.
