Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare, stating that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, free medicines are now available at all government hospitals, dispensaries, and wellness centres across the state.

During a surprise visit to the Community Health Centre in Ghanour, Loh Simbli Wellness Centre, and the local rural dispensary, Dr. Balbir Singh reviewed the condition of healthcare services in these remote areas and directly engaged with patients to understand their experiences. He expressed satisfaction over the positive feedback and growing trust among people in the public healthcare system.

The Minister informed that, alongside free medicines, diagnostic services have been initiated for patients, and that in the next phase, specialist care will be brought closer to people’s homes. A weekly rotation system will ensure availability of doctors specializing in ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, pediatrics, gynecology, surgery, orthopedics, and anesthesiology at nearby government facilities.

Dr. Balbir Singh also issued immediate instructions to install a shaded waiting area at the Ghanour hospital’s pharmacy section for patient comfort. However, at Loh Simbli, he noted the absence of both a doctor and pharmacist and directed that a report be submitted by the concerned authorities. He made it clear that any dereliction of duty—by doctors, nurses, or pharmacists—will not be tolerated.
