Swachhta survey kicks off,royal city divided in four zones
The swachh survey kicks off and the team has divided royal city into four zones-North, South, East and West to carry out the survey in its jurisdiction and the team will collect feedback from citizens and will visit public places for physical observation regarding cleanliness level of the city from Thursday as Wednesday is a public holiday under Swachta Abhiyan series.
The survey team will make surprise visits without giving any prior information to corporation officials and will sent real time videos and photographs at ministry’s app for further examination.
Officials associated with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan programme at Patiala said as per the parameters 30 percent is for documentation, 35 percent is for public feedback and remaining 35 percent is for cleanliness. The team is going through the documentation and initiatives taken by Patiala Municipal Corporation to improve cleanliness level of the city.
The team will also visit educational institutions for interaction with students and will also inspect public places, besides interacting with 1,000 people randomly.
The three-member team of union ministry housing and urban affairs already reached Patiala to asses under its cleanliness under Swachhta Abhiyan.
It is a challenging time for Patiala Municipal Corporation as this Royal City was listed among the dirtiest cities, as it ranked 411 out of the 468 cities in 2017. It’s a home town and constituency of Capt Aamarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab.
In 2017 Survey out of 14 cities and towns of Punjab covered under the Union ministry’s survey, Patiala ranked fourth-last, and was only ahead of Batala (418), Abohar (427) and Muktsar (428).
Last year also in the month of January , a team from the Union ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had carried a detailed survey related to cleanliness in the Royal City .
