Tarn Taran police busted inter district gang; arrested robbers after an encounter-SSP

Today Tarn Taran district police got a major breakthrough when they nabbed five robbers, after an encounter near Kairon village on Tarn Taran-Patti road, here on Monday. While an accomplice of these five robbers was gunned down in the encounter with the Tarn Taran police.
Even a Punjab Home Guard jawan Sarabjeet Singh, Bikramjit Singh were also injured in the encounter. They were admitted to a nearby private hospital where their condition is said to be stable.
As per the SSP Tarn Taran Dhruman H Nimbale IPS,the robbers were nabbed by the police after an encounter . The gang was equipped with firearms and was doing robberies in the area. Today Jagjit Singh alias Jaggi a resident of Naushera Panuan, Rajbir Singh alias Raju resident of gandivind, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi resident of Bhullar, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi resident of Jattan and Gurjinder Singh resident of Manakpura robbed a vehicle at a gun point in village Dhotian and ran away. The police got the information and naka’s were laid in the area. The police got suspicious on a car number PB02 BT 6301 and signaled the driver to stop the car. But the robbers instead of stopping, stopped and reversed the car. Meanwhile the car derailed in the fields and the occupants of the car fired on the police party and start running away. In the firing , bullets hit the PHC Sarabjit Singh. Police party retaliated and started the firing. In the firing a robber got injured and another robber died. Police recovered arms, ammunition and 105 intoxicating tablets were found from their possession.”
He further said , “the rest of the robbers ,dodging the police, entered a marriage palace where a function was on. The police cordoned off the marriage palace. On seeing the police, the robbers fired at them, leading to panic among the people present at the marriage hall. In a hour long encounter police got success and arrested all the robbers and recovers arms, ammunition, intoxicating pills, opium, smack and Rs 80,562/- cash. A FIR is lodged under section 307/ 332/ 353/ 186/ 148/149 IPC, 25/54/59 arms act 21/ 22/ 61/85 NDPS act were registered at police station city Patti.”
