Thapar institute celebrating April as Stress Awareness Month; organized a visit for government school students

Embarking on a mission to engage young students in pressing societal issues surrounding Social Media Addiction and to honor April as Stress Awareness Month, the Thapar Institute Counselling Cell (TICC) at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, organized a visit for 200 students in grades XI and XII. Held on April 19, 2024, at Government Multipurpose Senior Secondary School, Patiala, this event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of school principal Vijay Kapoor. Dr. Sonam Dullat, Manager of TICC-TIET, led the delegation team alongside the Mental Health Student Ambassadors (MHSAs) of TICC, operating under the guidance of TIET’s Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Inderveer Chana.
Lead ambassadors Tanya, Kirtveer Kharoud, Hardik Panwar, and Yuvraj Gupta also played pivotal roles. The event aimed to shed light on the detrimental effects of social media addiction on mental well-being and fostered an interactive environment for open discussions.
The program commenced with a brief introduction of the TICC team, followed by two engaging skits performed by the MHSAs that addressed critical issues such as mobile addiction, cyberbullying, and depression. The first skit skillfully highlighted the harmful impact of mobile addiction on mental health, encouraging students to moderate their usage and exercise self-discipline. The second skit dealt with the emotional distress arising from negative online interactions, emphasizing the importance of internet safety, data privacy, and seeking support in times of difficulty.
