Thapar Polytechnic College organises 4thBlood Donation Camp

Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala in association with NSS unit of TIET, Lions Club Region IV, Patiala and Rajindra Medical College and Hospital, Patiala took the initiative to organize a blood donation drive in its premises on March 14th, 2023. Prof. Prakash Gopalan,Chairman Managing Committee(Thapar Polytechnic College) inaugurated the blood donation drive and hailed the college for such a noble cause. Lion Sohinder Pal Kansal (Region Chairperson Lion’s Club, Patiala) also made his gracious presence to encourage the donors. Dr. Ankush Kansal, Principal, Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala reiterated the need for voluntary blood donation as it is a cornerstone of a safe and adequate supply of blood. On this occasion, he also congratulated the team for successfully conducting a blood donation camp for the fourth time in a row.
The blood donation activity was executed by a group of 12 members headed by Sukwinder Singh and staff posted in the blood bank of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. It was an exceptional opportunity for the donors to donate their blood to save lives. According to estimates from (WHO)India needs approximately 12 million units of blood every year. A shortage of this valuable resource has a significant impact on emergency conditions.The enthusiastic donors helped to collect61units of blood. Each donor was cared for by looking after any post-donation weakness or nausea and being provided with refreshments.
