Taking a step forward in the direction to impart its students with experiential learning in engineering and technological developments involved in satellite building and space missions, the fraternity of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology took a leap of faith four years back and decided to build it’s own satellite “ThaparSat”. The hard work of Thapar student satellite program team has paid-off with a satisfying and illustrious output. The satellite is ready and we are in the final stages of testing. The satellite aims at real time monitoring of pollution due to greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide, methane & nitrous oxide and measurement of soil moisture content in Northern India. The proposal for initiating the launch process will be shortly submitted by the TIET team to ISRO.
