To check allurement of voters through alcohol (both Country made or foreign liquor), to maintain law and order in the election bound area, where Municipal Elections are going to be held,  Patiala Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur has ordered the liquor vends to close their vends and declare the duration of the polling as Dry Day in Patiala, Ghanour and Ghagga area, where Municipal Elections are going to polls on 17 December.

The ADC Patiala also said that on 17 December , the date on which polling and counting of votes is to be taken up, is  declared a ‘dry day’ from 5: AM in the morning till the process is completed,  under the relevant laws in the state.

Nobody is allowed the sell or serve the liquor even if they had relevant permission, licence. Even Hotels, Bars, Pubs, Clubs, Restaurants, Palaces, shops are ordered not to serve or entertain their customers, who demand liquor, wine, beer etc.  during this period. If anybody found for violating the orders, an action under relevant sections will be taken.
