Three States/UT to have new Governor, Lt Governor

The President of India has accepted the resignation of Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) as Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh.
The President of India is also pleased to make the following appointments of Governor/Lieutenant Governor:-
(i) Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh appointed as Governor of Haryana.
(ii) Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju appointed as Governor of Goa.
(iii) Shri Kavinder Gupta appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
The above appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices.
About New Appintees
The 81-year old Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh, a veteran BJP leader from West Bengal, has been appointed as the Governor of Haryana, over two decades after retreating from active politics.Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh joined the BJP in 1991 and was appointed as the West Bengal BJP president from 1999–2002. He will takeover as Governor from Bandaru Dattatreya, who held the position since July 7, 2021.
Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju is a senior TD leader and former Union minister who was appointed as Governor of Goa.
Kavinder Gupta , 65 years old has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Gupta has served as the former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta succeeds Brigadier Mishra, 85, who had been appointed lieutenant governor of Ladakh after accepting the resignation of RK Mathur on February 12, 2023. Mishra was previously the Arunachal Pradesh governor.
