Patiala ENT forum conducted a Live surgical workshop on Thyroid Surgery at Simran ENT Centre.

There was live surgical workshop in which the patients of thyroid swelling were operated by using new and advanced surgical techniques. The surgeries were performed by Dr. Bikramjit Singh who is an Onco-surgeon trained at Tata Memorial Cancer Centre, Mumbai.

Dr. Harsimran Singh, General Secretary of Patiala ENT Forum said on the occasion that ENT surgeons are well versed with the anatomy of the neck and use of microscope. Hence, there is decreased incidence of complications during thyroidectomy. Earlier, complications like change of voice and low calcium levels was common after thyroid surgery. But with the development of new techniques and use of advanced equipment, the complication rates are very low in the hand of experienced ENT surgeon. He also mentioned that patients suffering from renal stones often have dysfunction of parathyroid glands, so all these patients should visit an ENT surgeon once for evaluation and treatment. Dr Jaswinder Singh President Patiala ENT forum told that delegates came from other districts and these type of events are learning experience for all budding surgeons and thanked all the members for active participation.

Other prominent doctors present during this event were, Dr Bhagwant Singh, Member PMC; Dr. Sanjeev Bhagat HOD, Dept of ENT, GMC Patiala, Dr. Dimple Sahni, Prof ENT, Dr Ajata Shatru Kapoor Dr. Parvinder and Dr. Vishav Yadav, Asst. Prof from Govt. Medical Collge Patiala. Senior ENT surgeons of Patiala, Dr. S K Verma, Dr. B S Tuli, Dr. B S Sohal, Dr B S Verma Dr PS Kohli were also present. The members of surgical society of Patiala also participated in the event.
