To earn extra income, PRTC to set up ‘Retail Petrol Pumps’ in its land, premises

To earn extra income and to manage open, vacant space, Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) has mooted a proposal to set up petrol pumps in its land-depot, office, workshop etc.

As per available information, PRTC has offered a suitable space for setting of petrol pump in PRTC head office at Nabha Road, Patiala, PRTC workshop at Sirhandi gate, Patiala, PRTC Old Bus Stand, Patiala, PRTC workshop Sangrur, PRTC Bus Stand, Patran in Patiala district and PRTC sub-depot Dhaula.

To make proposal attractive, PRTC has offered locations which have good traffic, vehicular movement. The corporation has invited proposal from the oil companies in different mode like CODO model (company owned dealer operated ), COCO Model (company owned company operated ) and lease basis. The best suited and profitable mode will be selected by the PRTC.

PRTC will provide the space for installing ‘Retail Outlets’ where as statutory clearances , NOCs etc shall be obtain by the firm, company at its own level.

Confirming the same, managing director of Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) Bikramjit Singh Shergill, PCS said “the proposal is in its early stage. We have invited Expression of Interest (EOI) for setting up retail petroleum outlets at PRTC Premises from the oil companies. As per the plan, oil companies will run the Retail Petrol Pump in association with PRTC and no private person is allowed to run the petrol pump.”

PRTC has 9 depot and 16 bus stands across the Punjab at Patiala, Bassi Pathana, Patran, Amloh, Sirhand, Sangrur, Moonak, Ahmedgarh, Chandigarh, Zirakpur, Bathinda, Talwandi Sabo, Rama Mandi, Budhlada, Faridkot, Kapurthala, Phagwara, Barnala, Ludhiana. When asked how many petrol pumps the PRTC wants to set up, MD Bikramjeet Singh Shergill added “no such numbers are yet finalised.”

PRTC is operating in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, U.T., Delhi, U.P., Uttranchal, Rajasthan and J&K. At present PRTC have 1304 buses in various categories
