In a significant development, many victims have approached the Punjab vigilance bureau after the aam aadmi party (AAP) has taken the reins of Punjab in March 2022. The present government had launched an ‘anti-corruption action line’ to make the state ‘corruption free’ since than.

After assuming the office, chief minister Bhagwant Mann had announced to make Punjab a corruption free state and had adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption.

On May 24,2023 the Chief Minister had said that based on the complaints received by people on Whatsapp number 9501200200, the state government has nailed more than 300 corrupt officers/ officials, who have been put behind the bars after initiating action against them.

Keeping the increased workload into consideration and to complete the investigations, litigation and other work, today the director general of Punjab police has sent 100 non gazetted officers (NGOs) to state vigilance bureau on deputation for two years.

Out of these 100, 10 are of inspector rank, 33 sub-inspector, 29 assistant sub-inspector, 12 head constables, 9 sr. constables and 7 constables who were sent to Punjab vigilance bureau for two years.
