To increase standard of education, Punjab education department appoints “Campus Manager” in govt schools

In another initiative to increase the standard of education in schools and to ensure smooth and hassle-free management, the state education has appointed “Campus Manager” in senior secondary schools of the state.

“Campus managers, who will be an important part of the school administration and will help, rid the principal and teachers of non-academic duties. Now onward, the principal, teachers will have to concentrate on imparting quality education to school children ” said a school teacher.

In the first phase the state government has appointed 260 “campus mangers” in the senior secondary schools across Punjab through out source agency-Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO). 

Their responsibilities will include ensuring safety and security, implementation of on-campus policies, security of the school and its equipments , working, cleanliness of the school, toilets, looking after mid-day meals, plantation, maintenance of infrastructure and getting civil work done in cluster schools, coordinate with the security staff, mid-day meal workers etc.

To increase standard of education, Punjab education department appoints “Campus Manager” in govt schools . As per available information, out of around 300,150 campus managers are ex-servicemen, enrolled with PESCO and rest are civilians. The state govt has asked the PESCO authorities to be ready with another 300 more employees for the next phase.

As per sources the state govt wants to cover all the senior secondary school as they have large number of students, bigger campuses, more equipment’s, labs etc. The govt has appointed one campus manager along with two security personnel’s at the each senior secondary school.

As per PESCO sources, the state govt demands are very stringent. They want ex-servicemen of the rank of Hony. Capt., Subedar Major etc. They are trying to fulfill the state govt demand. If not found, then civilians will be deputed as Campus Managers in the schools.

Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO) is a Punjab Govt Undertaking established under Punjab Act No. 33 of 1978.  It works towards welfare of ex-servicemen, war widow, disabled service personnel and their dependents.
