3-Days Workshop on Robotics organized GNDU

A three-day hands-on workshop titled “Robotics Workshop, Kickstart Your Robotics Journey: Beginner’s Workshop on Robotics” was held at Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (GJCEI) of Guru Nanak Dev University. The workshop aimed to provide foundational knowledge and practical experience in robotics, drawing enthusiastic participation from 40 students across various departments.

Dr. Rajdeep Singh Sohal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics Technology, led the workshop sessions centered on. He was supported by Ishan Sehgal and Kanish Arora, B.Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering Seventh semester students. Dr. Sohal introduced essential robotics concepts, virtual machines with a focus on the robot operating system (ROS) and the Ubuntu. The first day laid the groundwork for understanding ROS, while the second day involved practical live examples. On the final day, participants gained hands-on experience with live robots running on ROS 2, preparing them to explore advanced robotics applications. Dr. Sohal said that this workshop was organized under the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Pratap Kumar Pati, Coordinator of the Centre,

This initiative is part of GJCEI’s ongoing efforts to integrate cutting-edge technologies into academic learning. The event was also attended by faculty members Dr. Jaipreet Kaur and Dr. Kuldeep Singh, from Department of Electronics Technology, and Dr. Pahulpreet Singh from Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Sohal highlighted that this Incubation Centre has always been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at skill development for students and startups. Dr. Pati congratulated the team on the workshop’s success and announced that more such workshops, will be organized by the center in the future. He mentioned that workshops like these will be beneficial for electronics, computer science, and mechanical engineering students.

Engineers’ Week Celebrations at Guru Nanak Dev University

The Engineers’ Week Celebration 2024 was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Guru Nanak Dev University. The students of B. Tech. (Mech. Engg.) and M. Tech.
