Token power tariff increase for domestic, industrial, agriculture consumers; no increase for commercial consumers in Punjab

The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) in its tariff order issued today has made a token increase of 10 to 12 paise per unit for domestic consumers and 15 paise per unit for industry.

The new  tariff for the financial year 2024-25  will be applicable from  16th June, 2024 .This year the Average Cost of Supply  has been worked out  to 715.55 paise/unit  which is 11.21 paise per unit higher than the last year cost of  704.34 Paise/unit .

The annual revenue requirement of PSPCL for 2024-25 has been assessed by PSERC will be Rs. 44239.14 crores and the projected net revenue to PSPCL will be Rs. 48467.72 crores. PSERC has claimed that this clears  the previous deficit determined and allowed by the Commission.

The power tariff hike for domestic consumers with consumption of 100 units has been increased by 10 paise per unit for first 100 units and 12 paise per unit for next two hundred units. For industrial consumers taiff has been increased by token 15 paise per unit. For the agriculture sector the price increase is 15 paise per unit.

Good news for shopkeepers, small businessmen as there is no change in commercial tariff.

The domestic consumers are getting free 300 units per month.

Similarly, agriculture sector consumers are also getting free power.
