Farmers are now fully aware of the need to protect the environment, as exemplified by Amrjit Singh, a young farmer from village Hirdapur in Patiala district. He has been managing stubble on his four acres of land by incorporating it into the fields using a Happy Seeder, without burning it.

Sharing his farming experience, Amrjit Singh stated that over the past seven years, he has never burned stubble on his four acres of land. Instead, he has been incorporating it into the fields using the Happy Seeder.

Amrjit Singh, 25, explained that previously his fields faced significant issues with ‘Gully danda’(Phalaris minor) which would appear in the fields before the wheat grows, and the wheat yield was also around three and a half quintals per bigha. However, since he began managing stubble in the fields without burning, the problem of ‘Gully danda’ (Phalaris minor) has gradually disappeared, and there is no need for spraying against it. Additionally, the crop yield has increased by one quintal per bigha.

He further explained that not burning stubble has led to reduced fertilizer usage, prevents waterlogging in the fields, and avoids problems with wheat crop falling. He appealed to other farmers to manage stubble in the fields, stating that this approach not only increases the soil fertility but also contributes to providing a safe environment for future generations.
