Trespassing incident at Punjab’s largest private power plant: two thieves apprehended for attempted theft at TSPL

In the early hours of 27th May 2025 (Monday), two individuals were apprehended for trespassing on the premises of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), North India’s largest private sector thermal plant, located in Village Banawala, District Mansa. TSPL’s security team, while conducting routine surveillance, acted swiftly to detain the individuals after they were found inside the restricted area with clear intent to steal. Stolen material worth approximately ₹90,000 was recovered, which included valve flange and other scrap material, from their possession.

In a press communiqué TSPL authorities said that “the apprehended individuals have been identified as Jageer Singh (son of Dalip Singh) and his son Gurwinder Singh, both residents of Behniwal village. They have been confirmed as thieves based on the circumstances and evidence recovered”.

Another suspect, Sunil Kumar, a resident of Talwandi Sabo and a scrap dealer by profession, fled the scene. The two detained individuals were handed over to the local police, a First Information Report (FIR) has been formally registered against three of them.
