TSPL conducts health camps for the community

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), largest thermal power plant in Punjab is supporting PHC, Behniwal with medical (Dentist, General Physician, &Gynaecologist) paramedical & lab test services. These services are a part of Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the company under its health initiative Project SEHAT(Safe and Effective Health Action by TSPL). In the months of July &August, TSPL had set up a series of health camps in the periphery villages that witnessed overwhelming response with over 2000 beneficiaries that availed the services. These health camps included general camps & specialized camps such as eye check-up camps as well as awareness campaign regarding topics such as diseases, menstrual hygiene, etc.
Access to health services is a major challenge for rural communities in the vicinity of TSPL. Due to unavailability of hospitals and medical practitioners in the PHC, Behniwal, the villagers had to travel approx.20 kms for availing health services. Taking note of the inconvenience and lack of medical facility in the area TSPL has partnered with PHDRDF (social arm of PHD Chambers of Commerce) for supporting the PHC in Behniwal village, Mansa with medical staff comprising of MBBS doctor, gynecologist and dentist besides free of cost laboratory test services.
Pankaj Sharma, COO,TSPL said, “We stay committed to our mission to give back to the community and society at large.We have been supporting PHC, Behniwal since 2016 to help communities’ avail affordable health services in the vicinity.This year onwards we have included additional services of gynecologist visit at PHC apart from organizing specialized health campsin the vicinity. We hope that these additional services will help in improving the health ecosystem of the area.”
Expressing gratitude to TSPL for its continued support, Gurpreet Singh, Multi-purpose Health Worker, Mansa said, “I would especially like to express my heartfelt gratitude to TSPL management for introducing additional services at PHC. With the array of health camps conducted by TSPL, healthcare has been brought to the community doorstep & made accessible for all. We look forward to working in tandem with TSPL for further flourishing Punjab’s health sphere”
