TSPL undertakes Massive Plantation Drive; launched campaign against Single Use Plastic

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), the largest thermal power plant in Punjab kicked off a massive plantation drive and launched acampaign against Single Use Plastic(SUP) on World Environment Day. Gurmeet Singh, Environmental Engineer, PPCB – Regional office, Bathinda & . Ravideep Singla – SDO, PPCB, Regional Office Bathinda flagged off the campaign &participated in the plantation drive in the presence of Pankaj Sharma, COO – TSPL and other senior officials of TSPL.
TSPL is home to a forest of 4 lakh trees in its ~900 acres & has also been awarded the ‘Guinness World Record’ for planting over 2 lakh trees simultaneously at a single location. TSPL regularly undertakesplantation drives&according to India’s State of Forest Reports 2021,these plantation drives have contributed to 84.4% of forest cover across the entire districtcovering over 968 acres of land.
Gurmeet Singh, Executive Engineer – PPCB said “I take this opportunity to thank TSPL management for this endeavor and for various sustainable initiatives ensuring ecologically sound operations catalyzing positive change & demonstrating care for the communities in the vicinity. Such endearing partnerships can really propel the state’s progress to create new benchmarks. TSPL had recently developed a Miyawaki mini forest at a periphery village which is a unique initiative in the region.“
Ravideep Singla, SDO – PPCB, Mansa said “TSPL has always supported regional sustainability initiatives & it gives me immense pleasure to be part of this highly effective, incredible effort towards afforestation in the district. TSPL has always been championing causes of CER (Corporate Environmental Responsibility) in various aspectsthat brings about positive impact in the region. Corporates generally always take up causes that affect their operations but TSPL always goes above & beyond their call of duty. It is heartening to note an array of several such sustainable initiatives taken up by the biggest power plant in Punjab.”
