Two IIM Directors at Punjabi University National Seminar

School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala organized a one-day National Seminar with the theme ‘Resurgent India: Emerging Business Strategies for Growth and Performance’. In the inaugural session of the seminar, Head of the Department Dr. Navjot Kaur while welcoming the delegates and participants emphasized on the need of finding new strategies, innovations and practices for the survival of Indian economy and the businessworld.
The Key Note Address for the seminar was delivered by Dr. D.P.Goyal, Director, IIM Shillong. He discussed the Vision 2030 and elaborated on the need to find solutions for the sustainable and inclusive growth. He said that the India’s future lies in the technology and continuous innovations in technology. In her address as the Guest of Honor, Mrs. Anuradha Jain, CEO, Anuja Health Care Ltd.talked about her journey as an entrepreneur. Being a female, there were many obstacles but persistence and hard work is the key to be an entrepreneur, she said. She also highlighted the importance of following ethical and honest practices in the business.
In his address Chief Guest Suresh Kumar, IAS said that within the short span of 75 years of independence,India has progressed a lot in almost all the spheres. The reforms implemented by the government have provided fillip to the business ecosystem in the country.However, there is a lot to be done yet. India is the fifth superpower of the world and soon it will surpass the growth rate of China and USA if we continue to focus on inclusive growth.The Presidential Address was given by Prof. (Dr.) Arvind, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala. He congratulated the head of department for conducting continuous academic and research endeavors from time to time and ceaselessly working even during the lockdown times in the online mode. The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Amar Inder Singh, Professor, School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala. The stage proceedings were conducted by Dr. Raminder Kaur Sira, Assistant Professor, School of Management Studies.
The seminar had six parallel sessions each contributing to a different dimension of management problems, practices and new innovations. More than 120 papers, covering almost each and every specialized area of business management, were presented in the seminar.
The chief guest of the valedictory session Col. Navjit Sandhu, Registrar, Sports University, Patiala in his speech congratulated the department for organizing such a relevant and timely event.He said he is very happy to see after a long time of lock down such an august gathering of academicians and practitioners from all over the country. In the valedictory Session, Dr. B.A.Metri, Professor and Director, IIM Nagpur in his address said that the low level of employability of the students after attending even higher educational institutions, brain drain of Indians and mass drainage of our Indian students towards west for immigration is one of the biggest challenges before the higher educational institutes today. Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. B.S. Sandhu, Dean Academic Affairs, Punjabi University, Patiala and the presentation of the report and proceedings of the seminar were delivered by Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Professor, School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala. At the end, the formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. B.B. Singla and the stage proceedings were conducted by Dr.Satinder Kumar.
