Two powercom directors’ term ends; no one appointed against vacant posts; both power wings without regular CMD

The two year term of director administration of Punjab state transmission corporation limited (PSTCL) and Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) ended and the posts fall vacant as the state government has not appointed anyone on these posts.
Erstwhile PSEB was bifurcated into two companies i.e. PSPCL and PSTCL in the year 2010 and both wings of powercom have their own CMD and directors
Nem Chand Chaudhary of Sardulgarh, District Mansa was appointed Director Administration of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) on July 12,2023 for two years. His two year term ended on July 12.
Similarly, Jasbir Singh Sur Singh had assumed the charge as Director Administration of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on July 17,2025.He was also appointed for two years and his term also ended today.
It’s an interesting case that no regular technocrat is appointed as CMD, PSTCL since its inception, from 2010. Punjab government secretary power holds the charge of CMD. The transmission wing of the powercom is without regular CMD for the last 15 years. The working engineers are demanding regular CMD to ensure dedicated technical leadership and to steer the corporation effectively towards achieving its long-term objectives.
Even the charge of CMD Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) was given to principal secretary power Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS after the term of technocrat Baldev Singh Sran ended in February 2025. PSPCL is also managed by an IAS officer Ajoy Kumar Sinha.
