UGC-MMTTC Punjabi University concludes short term course on “MOOCs Online Courses and Open Educational Resources”

Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, the UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Punjabi University, Patiala, successfully concluded its 6-days Short-Term Course on MOOCs Online Courses and Open Educational Resources.
The Short-Term Course on “MOOCs, Online Courses and Open Educational Resources” was designed to equip participants with a strong understanding of emerging digital learning ecosystems and the rapidly evolving landscape of technology-enabled education. Throughout the program, participants gained comprehensive insights into the design, development, and effective use of MOOCs, along with an in-depth understanding of various online learning platforms and open educational resources. The course further enabled participants to explore global trends in digital pedagogy, innovative instructional strategies, and the integration of technology to enhance teaching and learning. This short-term program successfully empowered faculty members to embrace modern educational tools and implement technology-driven practices within their professional environments.
During valedictoryof this Short Term Course, Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala, extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, the Guest of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, the Course Coordinator of the Short Term Course on MOOCs, Online Courses and Open Educational Resources, Daljit Ami, Director, Educational Multimedia Research Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala, and all the participants attending the programme.
Delivering the valedictory address, Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director, MMTTC, Thanked Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala and said that their inspiring leadership, academic vision, and continuous encouragement have been the driving force behind all the activities and progress of the UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC)andalso expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for hisgracious presence, unwavering support and guidance, and encouragement to all academic initiatives of MMTTC. After that Dr. Maini expressed sincere gratitude to the Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathindafor his dynamic vision, progressive approach, and outstanding contributions to engineering and technical education. He acknowledged Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma forhis commitment to academic excellence and appreciated the institution’s continued collaboration in promoting quality professional development.He thanked Course Coordinator Daljit Ami, Director, Educational Multimedia Research Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala for his efforts.

The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, emphasized that in the evolving landscape of digital education, the integration of technology with ethical and secure practices is essential. He encouraged participants to design and implement MOOCs and online learning systems that are transparent, trustworthy, and socially beneficial. he remarked, creating digital learning environments that are not only smart and accessible, but also safe, responsible, and sustainable. He commended the Centre for organizing a course that is timely, relevant, and aligned with the future of technology-enabled education.
The Guest of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, observed that digital technologies are reshaping education, research, governance, and institutional functioning worldwide. He emphasized the importance of adopting ethical practices, data privacy safeguards, and secure digital frameworks within MOOCs and online learning environments to ensure trust, credibility, and long-term reliability. Prof. Sharma commended MMTTC for offering a forward-looking program that strengthens faculty competence in designing and implementing technology-enabled, learner-centric educational ecosystems.
Course Coordinator, Daljit Ami, encouraged participants to apply innovative thinking in the design and implementation of MOOCs and other digital learning platforms. He emphasized the growing global importance of data protection, digital ethics, and the management of misinformation within online education.At the end of the inaugural session, he proposed a vote of thanks.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. Maini conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated support of the staff members—Dr. Mandeep Singh (Technical Officer-II), Dyal Dutt, Surinder Singh, Kanta Rani, Mahaveer Singh and Surinder Kumar—acknowledging their exemplary organizational skills and invaluable contributions to the smooth and successful conduct of the online Short-Term Course.
The valedictory session concluded with positive feedback from participants and a reaffirmation of MMTTC’s commitment to promoting quality professional development in emerging technological areas.
