UGC-MMTTC Punjabi University starts Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme (Off-Line) and Refresher Course on Languages (On-line)

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, has launched two courses Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme and Refresher Course in Languagesaimed at enhancing the capacity of educators and professionals.
Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme in offline-mode is designed for newly recruited faculty members and Refresher Course in Languages in online-mode for faculty members from the Central, State and Deemed Universities, Private universities, Institutions of National Importance, Colleges and other Higher Educational Institutions aiming to foster their professional development and teaching excellence.
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Jai Shankar Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi National Law University, Punjab as the Chief Guest.Prof. Varinder Kumar Kaushik, Director, Youth Welfare Department, Punjabi University, Patiala was the Guest of Honor for inaugural session.
Prof. Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC, emphasized that these courses, structured in accordance with UGC-MMTTC guidelines, are part of the university’s commitment to continuous professional development. Prof. Maini welcomed the chief guest of the day,Prof. Jai Shankar Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi National Law University, Punjab. He also thanked the guest of honour,Prof. Varinder Kumar Kaushik, Director, Youth Welfare Department, Punjabi University, Patiala. The Faculty Induction Programme is designed to help educators transition smoothly into their roles as teachers and mentors. It is not just about teaching techniques but also about understanding the larger purpose of education—shaping young minds and inspiring them to achieve their potential.
Prof. Jai Shankar Singhsaid teachers are builders of nation and society. Professors should be ideal role models for students, they should keep no stone unturned to channelise the energy of youth for Viksit Bharat. As educators, it is our responsibility not only to stay abreast of science & technology developments but also to cultivate a deep understanding of their implications for society, health, and the environment.This course is more than just an opportunity to update your academic knowledge. It is a platform for collaboration, critical thinking, and intellectual engagement.
Prof. Varinder Kumar Kaushik congratulated the organisers, he said, these programs play a pivotal role for nurturing the academic temper in the young teachers. He encouraged participants to explore these platforms to enhance their teaching and learning experiences.
He emphasized that this refresher course goes beyond academic development. It is an opportunity for networking and professional growth. The collaborations and connections you form during this course can open doors to new research possibilities, interdisciplinary projects, and innovative teaching methodologies.
Prof. Anup Thakur, Co-ordinator, Guru Daksita Faculty Induction Programme introduced about faculty induction programme. He told around 35 participants from different parts from diverse disciplines are attending this course. He said,as teachers and researchers, we often find ourselves at the intersection of knowledge and application. It is important to remember that the purpose of acquiring new knowledge is not just to enrich our understanding but also to disseminate it effectively to our students. This course will provide you with tools and approaches that will help you communicate complex concepts in a clear, engaging, and relevant manner. It will also enable you to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
Dr. Shivani Thakker Co-ordinator Refresher course in languages mentioned that we have got over whelming response from the participants. We have got more than 200 applications from the whole country. In this course teachers from 16 different Indian languages are attending this programme. This course will train participants to explore their full potential as teacher to make education more inclusive and effective.”
