UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University starts two on-line courses simultaneously to enhance Research Skills in Higher Education Institutes

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, has successfully launched Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme and Refresher Course in “Research Methodology and Ethics”in an online mode, bringing together a diverse group of academiciansfrom across the country.

The Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme and Refresher Course in “Research Methodology and Ethics” will be conducted online, offering participants an immersive learning experience. This Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programmemarks not just the beginning of teaching career, but the shaping of countless young minds.The purpose of this induction is to introduce best teaching practices, and foster a spirit of collaboration and innovationand theRefresher Course in “Research Methodology and Ethics” is designed to provide opportunity to reflect, learn, unlearn, and most importantly to grow together as educators and researchers. The refresher course aims to bridge the gap between foundational knowledge and cutting-edge research.

During Inaugural of these Course, Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala, extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, the Guest of Honour, Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva, Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University,Kurukshetra (Haryana),  the Course Coordinator of the Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme, Dr. Nirmal Singh and Dr. Dhandeep Singh, the Course Coordinator of the Refresher Course in Research Methodology, Dr. Suresh Kumar and Dr. Bharti Sapra, Department Pharmaceutical Sci. & Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala and all the participants attending the programme.

In his inaugural address, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh underscored the vital importance of research methodology and ethical practices in strengthening the credibility, integrity, and global relevance of academic research. He emphasised that ethical research is the cornerstone of knowledge creation and urged faculty members to uphold honesty, transparency, and social responsibility in all scholarly pursuits.He appreciated the initiative of organising the programme and commended the efforts of the organisers in fostering a strong research culture. The session was graced by Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva, Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University,Kurukshetra (Haryana) as the Guest Honour for inaugural session. While addressing the participants, the Guest Honouremphasised the pivotal role of continuous professional development in enhancing teaching excellence, research aptitude, and institutional growth. He highlighted the importance of adapting to contemporary pedagogical practices, interdisciplinary approaches, and the integration of technology in higher education. The Guest Honourfurther appreciated the efforts of the organising team for conducting the Faculty Induction Programme and Refresher Course, stating that such academic initiatives significantly contribute to capacity building among faculty members and strengthen the quality of higher education. Prof. Som Nath briefed about the various initiatives undertaken by Kurukshetra university for promoting quality research. He also lauded the efforts of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre for organizing such meaningful and academically enriching programmes.

The Course Coordinator of Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme,Dr. Nirmal Singh,said that this Faculty Induction Programmeis designed to provide a comprehensive academic platform for faculty members, researchers, and scholars to deepen their understanding of linguistic structures, literary traditions, and cultural discourses. Dr. Singh highlighted the objectives and significance of the Faculty Induction Programme, stating that FIP plays a crucial role in orienting newly appointed faculty members towards effective teaching-learning practices, academic responsibilities, research orientation, and professional ethics.He also briefed the participants about the structure, themes, and expected outcomes of the programme.

The Course Coordinatorof Refresher Course in Languages, Literature & Cultural Studies,Dr. Suresh Kumar,welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants. In his inaugural address, Dr. Kumar emphasised the significance of research methodology and ethical practices in ensuring the quality, credibility, and social relevance of academic research. He highlighted that adherence to research ethics is essential for maintaining academic integrity and fostering responsible scholarship.Dr. Suresh Kumar briefed the participants about the objectives, structure, and thematic areas of the Refresher Course.

Course Co-Coordinator of Refresher Course,Dr. Bharti Sapra, addressed the gathering during the inaugural session and extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants. In her remarks, Dr. Sapra highlighted the significance of sound research methodology and ethical practices in enhancing the quality, credibility, and social relevance of academic research. She emphasised that ethical awareness and methodological rigour are essential components of responsible and impactful research.Dr. Bharti Sapra also outlined the academic framework and objectives of the Refresher Course, stating that the programme is designed to equip faculty members with updated research skills, ethical understanding, and practical insights required in contemporary higher education and research environments.

Course Co-CoordinatorofGuru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme,Dr. Dhandeep Singh, emphasised the importance of faculty induction programmes in nurturing academic excellence, professional competence, and ethical responsibility among teachers. He highlighted that such programmes provide a strong foundation in pedagogy, research orientation, and institutional values.
