UGC-MMTTC Punjabi University starts two On-line Courses to enhance Research Skills in Higher Education Institutes

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, has launched Short Term Programmes on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators and NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme in an online mode, bringing together a diverse group of academicians from across the country.
The Short Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators and NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme will be conducted online, offering participants an immersive learning experience. The Short-Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators aim is to familiarize faculty and administrators with the latest NAAC guidelines and Assessment & Accreditation framework and the NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme is designed to provide a transformative vision aimed at reshaping the Indian education system to meet the demands of the 21st century.
Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Vice Chancellor, for his continuous support to all the Courses organised by UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University Patiala. Dr. Maini welcomed the chief guest of the day, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, The Course Coordinator of Short Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators,Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Professor, Department of Mathematics, Punjabi University, Patiala and The Course Coordinator of NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme Dr. Ajita, Professor, Department of Sports Science , Punjabi University, Patiala and Co-coordinator Dr. Sikander Singh, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala and all the Participants.Dr. Maini said that the sessions will be conducted by eminent experts and resource persons from reputed institutions, ensuring high-quality learning experiences for all attendees. He emphasized that these Short-Term Programmes on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators and NEP Course are structured in accordance with UGC-MMTTC guidelines and are part of the university’s commitment to continuous professional development.
Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala in his message said that the Short-Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators is not just a procedural requirement but a comprehensive reflection of institutional quality. Our IQAC Coordinators act as the torchbearers of this internal quality mechanism. Therefore, their continuous professional development is critical for nurturing a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability in our institutions. Dr Singh Said that Equally significant is the implementation of the NEP 2020, which aims to bring in a paradigm shift from rote learning to a more holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary education system. It emphasizes faculty capacity building, academic autonomy, student-centric learning, and technology integration. As coordinators and education leaders, it is our collective responsibility to interpret and implement these reforms in both letter and spirit.
The Course Coordinator of Short-Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators,Dr. Rakesh Kumar,said that “Together, let’s build a community of educators committed to excellence, empathy, and lifelong learning. He stressed the importance of such STP courses.With an overwhelming response from participants, the online Short Term Programme on Professional Development for NAAC and IQAC Coordinators and NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme are expected to be a significant step towards strengthening research capabilities and promoting academic excellence.
The Course Coordinator of NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme”Dr. Ajita, highlighted the objectives of the program, stressing its role in fostering a research-oriented mindset among academicians and professionals.She said that this course energizes your academic pursuits and strengthens the spirit of scientific inquiry and wish for a meaningful and enriching learning experience. Special interactive sessions and practical demonstrations will further enhance the learning experience.
Dr. Sikander Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala being Course Co-Coordinator of NEP Orientation & Sensitization Programme said that NEP 2020 Promote multidisciplinary and holistic education across arts, sciences, technology, and vocational subjects.He stressed the importance of such NEP courses.He also proposed a vote of thanks.
During the closing remarks, Dr Maini extended heartfelt praise and gratitude to the dedicated staff members Dr. Mandeep Singh, Dyal Dutt, Surinder Singh, Kanta Rani, Mahaveer Singh and Surinder Kumar highlighting their exemplary organizational skills and crucial contributions in ensuring that all sessions were conducted seamlessly in an offline format.
