UGC-MMTTC Punjabi University starts two Refresher Courses to Enhance Quality Education in Higher Education Institutes

Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, has launched two new refresher courses aimed at enhancing the capacity of educators and professionals.

The First course focuses on “Social Sciences” and will be conducted offline, providing participants with an immersive, in-person learning experience. This course aims to deepen understanding of social sciences and foster critical thinking and analytical skills relevant to educators and researchers in this field.

The Second course is on “Information Communication Technology (ICT)”, which will be conducted online. This course is designed to equip participants with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of ICT, enabling them to integrate modern technology effectively into their teaching and professional practices. The online format ensures accessibility and convenience for educators across various regions.

Prof. Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC, emphasized that these courses, structured in accordance with UGC-MMTTC guidelines, are part of the university’s commitment to continuous professional development. Prof. Maini welcomed the chief guest of the day, Dr. Dharam Pal Singh, Professor in the Department of Social Work at Punjabi University, Patiala. He also thanked the guest of honour, Dr. Vinay Kumar Gupta, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala, for their presence and support. He expressed gratitude tocourse coordinator Dr. Deepak Kumar, Professor, Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Punjabi University, Patiala for Refresher Course on Social Sciences(Off-line) and the course coordinator Dr. Lakhwinder Kaur, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Co-coordinator Dr. Dhavleesh Rattan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering for Refresher Course on ICT (Online) for their efforts in organizing these programmes and securing the participation of distinguished resource persons.

The chief guest, Dr. Dharam Pal Singh, praised the initiative and highlighted the importance of continuous learning for educators. Dr. Singh stressed on the various dimensions of Learning. He stated that such refresher courses are pivotal in equipping teachers with the latest knowledge and methodologies, enabling them to better serve their students and contribute to the academic community.

The guest of honour, Dr. Vinay Kumar Gupta, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and skill development in today’s fast-evolving world. “Education is a lifelong journey, and programs like this refresher course play a crucial role in ensuring that we remain current with the latest trends and methodologies in our fields,” said the guest of Honour.

The Course Coordinator Dr.Lakhwinder Kaur for Refresher Course on Information Communication Technology (ICT) highlighted the crucial role of ICT in shaping modern education and professional practices. “This refresher course aims to provide educators and professionals with the latest tools and technologies, ensuring they remain at the forefront of digital advancements in teaching, learning, and research.
