Union Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan visits flood-affected areas of Rupnagar, warmly welcomed by BJP district president Lalpura

Union Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan (Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting) was given a grand welcome today in Shahpur Bela village of Rupnagar district by BJP District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura along with his team. Youths of the village arrived on dozens of tractors to greet the Minister and escorted him into the village. Dr. Murugan reviewed the flood-affected areas, interacted with the villagers, and sat in a house to listen to their problems. He assured them of all possible assistance from the BJP-led government.

The Minister said that Prime Minister  Narendra Modi recently conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected regions of Punjab, reviewed the situation, and held a meeting in Gurdaspur to assess the damage. The Prime Minister announced an additional relief package of Rs 1,600 crore for Punjab, in addition to the Rs 12,000 crore already allocated to the state. He also declared ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those who lost their lives and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Furthermore, children orphaned due to the floods and landslides will receive comprehensive support under the PM CARES for Children scheme.

Dr. Murugan emphasized that the Central Government is committed to rebuilding and restoring damaged infrastructure in the affected areas. Addressing the villagers, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government stands firmly with Punjab and its farmers. He assured the people of Shahpur Bela that their concerns will be taken seriously and that all demands would be addressed promptly with the support of the Central Government.

District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura expressed gratitude, saying that the Minister’s visit was possible with just one call, proving his commitment to Punjab. He thanked the Minister and stated that the visit has brought much-needed relief to the flood-hit people of Rupnagar district. Shahpur Bela Booth Incharge Himmat Singh also thanked the Union Government and the Minister for their support.

On this occasion, Punjab BJP Vice President  Subhash Sharma, District General Secretary Raman Jindal, Advocate Nipun Soni, Naveen Kumar, Dharminder Singh Bhinda, Roshan Lal Tedewal, Surjit Ghahimajra, Ropar City President Jagdish Chander Kajla, Krishan Kumar Attri, Satbir Rana, Captain Multan Singh, Raju Sharma (Medicos), Onkar Abhiana, Batth Majri Jattan, Saurav Bansal, Jagmandeep Singh Parhi, Harbhajan Singh, Inderpal Singh Logarh Fidday, Abhishek Agnihotri, Himmat Singh Giran, Mandeep Singh, along with hundreds of villagers and BJP supporters, were present.
