Reputed companies are keenly interested in students of Punjabi University ,is evident from the encouraging number of job offers to our students even before completion of their courses. University got total 366 placement offers from 36 leading companies. It was further a matter of great pride and pleasure that some students got simultaneous offers from more than three companies.Reputed corporate houses like Futuresfirst, Infosys, TCS, Quark Software, SAPLabs, TCS, SIIMs, Zoxima Solutions, NIIT Technologies, Daffodils, Xenonstack, TT Consultants, Bebo Technologies, Safeaeon, Cognizant, Enest, AXIS Bank, SBI Mutual Funds, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Byjus, LIDO Learning, etc. recruited the students on very promising salary packages ranging from 12.4 LPA to 3.6 LPA. Vice Chancellor Prof. B.S. Ghuman talking about this encouraging trend said that studets are real ambassador of an institute as they become the life long messengers of academic qualities and good will. The word of appreciation by them goes a long way in helping the university. The better placement will surely have a positive impact on the B.Tech admission for this session. He said that only recently the university took a big lead forward by achieving 64th rank in the country in NIRF ranking and by becoming 18th rank in the country and first position in Punjab state university EW ranking. With these achievements university has been marching ahead in every respect. He told that university took many initiatives in the recent past to ensure employment generation for the students. To fill the industry-academic gap university established Finishing School. To further move in this direction, curriculum was updated and improved on larger scale. Many mock interviews and many other programs were planned and organized to prepare the students for the interview sessions of various companies. Keeping in view the welfare of the students, Rs. 15 crore under RUSA grant were kept reserved for Enterpreneurship, Startup & Employbility Hub only.
The students and faculty of the university are to visit Canada also under the joint research collaboration with the University of British Columbia (Canada). It was due to our constant and consistent efforts that we could achieved high placement rates at a time when unemployment is rising in every sector. Undoubtedly the positive results will surely reflect in our admission this near.
Dean, faculty of Engineering and DAA Dr. Gurdeep Singh Batra, while talking specifically on Engineering Wing, told that this wing has highly qualified and skilled faculty which understand the need and importance of landholding with our students at every step beginning from admission to the placement. Besides the state of art, infrastructure of the university, technologically advanced workshops and well equipped labs, the AICTE approved Engineer Courses have also been heplful for the students. He said that the studets also prefer this university because the students friendly acadamic environs and multi disciplinery approach have been a major contributing factor in achieving success rate in every sector. Nominal fee structure, global outreach, research initiatives, rich library resources, wi-fi campus, best sports and hostel facility are just few of the factors which are playing a very positive and optimystic role in this direction. Besides this, there are many scholarship schemes for the students coming from different sections of the society who come to this univeristy to fulfill their dreams of higher education. Keeping the whole scenario in to consideration we have high hopes that B.Tech admission would witness an upward trend this year. He told that the last date for admission without late fee for B.Tech (CSE, ECE,ECM,Mechanical, Civil), B.Tech (Lateral Entry), B.Tech-MBA (Six Year Integrated Course) is 30th July while for M.Tech (Regular), M.Tech (Part time) last date for without late fee is 14th July. Admission form can also be submitted with late fee after these dates.
The heads of the engineering departments have also informed that they have been in constant touch with the new reputed companies for the placement in the coming session.
Dr. Manjit Singh, Director Placement Cell, told that nearly 2000 alumni of engineering wing are working on key positions in in various companies like Google, Amazone, Microsoft, Spasex, Orachle, Tech Mahinder. IBM, Tata, Apple, Tesla, Abode, Facebook etc.The univeristy has received excellent feedback from these alumnis regarding the academic excellence of their departments. This feedback is available on departmental websites and social platforms also. He told that we are seeing an encouraging upswing in admissions.
