Punjab’s Information and Public Relations Minister, Chetan Singh Jouramajra, today inaugurated significant development projects in the villages of Rakhra and Langroi, located in the Samana constituency. These initiatives, with a total investment of 1.15 crore rupees, represent a substantial step toward improving local infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Minister Jouramajra emphasized that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government remains committed to the state’s progress, ensuring development without political bias.
Among the key projects, the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art sports stadium in Rakhra was laid, with an investment of 60 lakh rupees. Additional works include the installation of sewage pipelines worth 10 lakh rupees and street improvements costing 5 lakh rupees. In Langroi, roads will be upgraded at a cost of 40 lakh rupees to enhance connectivity.
Jouramajra expressed regret over the sports stadium in Rakhra being unused for the past 15 years, despite the village’s connection to a previous government minister. He reassured the public that the revamped facility would be the best in Patiala district, featuring fields for volleyball, cricket, football, and a walking track for village residents.
Unused for over 15 Years, Village Rakhra’s Sports Stadium to Receive suitable grant for up gradation: Jouramajra highlighted the government’s efforts to engage youth in sports as part of a broader initiative to combat drug abuse. “Sports stadiums in villages are a priority under Chief Minister Mann’s vision to promote healthy lifestyles. Our youth are not only excelling in sports but are also preparing for careers in the police and army,” he said. Jouramajra also noted that police recruitment is now held annually through a transparent, merit-based process.
In a call to action, Minister Jouramajra urged villagers to plant saplings to maintain environmental purity and stressed the importance of electing capable panchas and sarpanches in the upcoming panchayat elections. He also encouraged farmers to use canal water to help conserve groundwater, as the government continues to ensure water supply to every farm.
