Vaccination and sterilization of stray dogs in begins in Patiala

The Patiala Urban Planning and Development Authority (PDA), launched a sterilization campaign (under the ‘Animal Birth Control’ program) for stray dogs in the urban estate areas of Patiala with the help of the Municipal Corporation team.
Disclosing this, Patiala Urban Planning and Development Authority (PDA) Chief Administrator Surbhi Malik said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had issued a grant of Rs. 3 lakh from his discretionary quota for this purpose with the target of sterilization (neutering/spaying) and anti-rabies vaccination of 250 dogs in the first phase.
She said that on the first day 14 dogs were neutered/spayed (sterilized) with the help of the Municipal Corporation team. She said that the campaign would be run once a week till the target of 250 was achieved under the first phase.
Under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme, stray dogs are picked up from an area, sterilised and vaccinated against rabies and returned to the same area.
