Valedictory Session of 5-Day Multidisciplinary Faculty Development Programme concludes at Punjabi University

The School of Management Studies at Punjabi University, Patiala, successfully concluded its 5-Day Multidisciplinary Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Sustainable Skills, Strategies, and Solutions for India 2047” with a thought-provoking valedictory session. The event brought together esteemed academicians and thinkers to reflect on the insights and learnings from the week-long programme.​

Chief Guest Dr. B.S. Bhatia, Pro Chancellor of RIMT University, emphasized the pivotal role of skill development in shaping India’s future. He highlighted the need for long-term thinking and highlighted the importance of development which is sustainable for future generations and development not at the cost of wasting natural and non-renewable resources. He stated that embracing the mantra of skilling, re-skilling, and up-skilling is essential for preparing the workforce for emerging technologies and global competitiveness. He urged faculty members to incorporate sustainability, innovation, and ethical responsibility into teaching and institutional frameworks. Dr. Bhatia also underscored the need for integrating sustainability into educational curricula to foster responsible and future-ready citizens.

Guest of Honour Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Guest of Honour and Principal of Khalsa College, Patiala, spoke about the significance of wisdom capital which draws from our ethos and spiritual values. Drawing from his extensive research and academic experience, Dr. Ubha stressed the importance of inclusive policies and practices in educational institutions to promote equity and holistic development. He underlined the role of education in shaping environmentally conscious, socially responsible citizens and called for a value-based academic culture to lead India towards 2047 with vision and purpose.

Dr. Amar Inder Singh, Head of the School of Management Studies, expressed his gratitude to all participants and resource persons for their active engagement throughout the programme. Dr. Ella Mittal conducted the proceedings of the valedictory session with poise and efficiency, ensuring a seamless flow of events and encouraging meaningful engagement among participants. Dr. Parneet Kaur delivered the vote of thanks, sincerely acknowledging the valuable contributions of all stakeholders, including the esteemed resource persons and experts. While highlighting the pivotal role of Dr. Ratinder Kaur and Dr. Dhiraj Sharma, whose dedication and coordination were instrumental in the programme’s success, she remarked, “This FDP has not only enriched our understanding of sustainable skills and solutions for a developed India, but also ignited important conversations we hope will continue to inspire in the days and months ahead.”
