Van Mahotsav 2025: Paudh Mela Kicks Off at Lake Club, Chandigarh

As part of the Van Mahotsav 2025 celebrations, the Department of Forests & Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration, inaugurated the Paudh Mela 2025 today at the Lake Club Parking Area, Chandigarh.
The event was formally inaugurated by Rajeev Verma, Chief Secretary, Chandigarh, in the esteemed presence of Saurabh Verma, IFS, and other senior officials of the UT Administration.
The Paudh Mela 2025 is being organized to promote environmental awareness and encourage citizens to actively participate in plantation activities for a greener and healthier Chandigarh. The two-day event, scheduled for July 19 and 20, 2025, features a variety of indigenous and ornamental plant species available for public distribution and sale.
The mela will be open to the public on the following schedule:
- July 19, 2025: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- July 20, 2025: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
A special stall on the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was also set up at the venue by Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL). The stall showcased CPDL’s efforts and initiatives under the scheme, highlighting its commitment to promoting sustainable and clean energy in the Union Territory. Visitors were informed about the benefits of rooftop solar installations and guided on how to apply for the scheme.
In addition to plant distribution, stalls from various departments and environmental organizations were set up to offer expert guidance on tree care, eco-friendly practices, and green living.
The Department of Forests & Wildlife urges all citizens of Chandigarh to visit the Paudh Mela, adopt a plant, and join hands in preserving the environment.
