Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday called on Captain Amarinder Singh here to condole the death of his mother Rajmata Mohinder Kaur.
Both Scindia and Virbhadra flew down to Patiala, reaching New Moti Bagh Palace at around 1 p.m. The two chief ministers were with Captain Amarinder through lunch.
The two leaders conveyed to Captain Amarinder and other members of the erstwhile royal family their deepest sympathies at the tragic loss and shared their condolences.
Among others who met the chief minister and his family to pay their condolences included former SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar, Namdhari Head Satguru Dalip Singh, Former Akali Ministers Hira Singh Gabria and Daljit Singh Cheema, Former BJP minister Manoranjan Kalia, Akali leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal and Budha Dal Chief Baba Balbir Singh. Besides several bureaucrats and industrialists SP Oswal (Vardhman Group of Companies), Kamal Oswal (Nahar Group of Companies) and Rajinder Gupta (Trident Group) also called on the CM.
A Shabad Kirtan was held at the palace in the evening to pray for the departed soul. A Bhog ceremony with Antim Ardas will be held here on Sunday from 12 noon to 1.30 p.m.
