VC Prof. Rattan Singh hoists Tiranga at JGND Punjab State Open University

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour at Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala. Prof. Rattan Singh, Vice-Chancellor, hoisted national flag in administrative block of the university. Dr Deepinder Kaur, Principal, Govt. (State) College of Education, Patiala was the guest-of-honour on the occasion. Tributes were paid to freedom fighters and unsung heroes.
Prof. Rattan Singh, VC, while addressing the faculty and staff, focussed on initiatives that have propelled the nation to become a developed economy. “The National Education Policy has given a boom to entrepreneurial aspirations and aligned learning with skills, values and traditions. Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University has created a conducive ecosystem for holistic growth of learners,” said Prof. Rattan Singh. He also eulogised the faculty and staff for disseminating mission and vision of the university.
Special guests, Sarpanches of villages adopted under Unnat Bharat Abhyan, Surinder Kaur, Bishanpur Channa; Rupinder Kaur, Swajpur; Manpreet Kaur, Sadnauli ; Sunita Rani, Todarpur ; Jasvinder Kaur, Behal, were felicitated during the independence day celebrations at Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala.
Earlier, on 13&14 August, upholding the glory of the Tricolour and participating in Ministry of Culture’s nation-wide Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2025, Public Relations Cell of the university encouraged students, faculty and staff to hoist Tiranga at their residences. Selfies and photos with Tiranga were uploaded by the faculty, staff and students on har ghar tiranga portal.
