Vedanta’s TSPL signs MOU with SHGs formed by Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission for hiring Electric Vehicle

Vedanta’s TSPL (Talwandi Sabo Power Limited), Punjab’s biggest power plant becomes pioneer with a landmark MOU signed with rural SHGs in Punjab in association with District administration under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM) to source electric vehicles from the SHG women driving transformation in the state & powering communities.
Representing TSPL, Chief Commercial Officer of TSPL, Anand Mandrik signed an MOU with MOTHER TERESA MAHILA CLUSTER LEVEL SOCIETY , a community led federation formed under Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission. The MoU was signed in presence of Rishi Pal Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mansa besides District Program Manager PSRLM and senior officials of TSPL. The convergence model facilitates hiring of electric vehicles from rural community SHG women for 5 years at pre-fixed monthly rentals. Additionally, Vedanta TSPL also offers to provide charging stations, maintenance costs, etc to sustain this green & empowering model’s economy.
Earlier this year, Vedanta had taken a major step towards sustainability by launching EV Policy for its employees across all locations, extending concessions with incentives ranging from 30% – 50% for various employee grades encouraging purchase of 4-wheeler & 2-wheeler electric vehicles. This step was introduced as part of Vedanta’s commitment towards Net-Zero Carbon, pledging 100% of their light motor vehicles to be decarbonized by 2030 & further aims to spend $5 billion over the next 10 years to accelerate the transition to net zero operations.
